Silicone & Polyurethane Joint Installation (Corking)
Construction and control joints have been nominated by the structural engineer and installed by concreter to ensure the concrete substrate can move without cracking. They must remain functional through any chosen flooring system.
The joints can either be coated over and remain visible as joints, which can lead to hairline cracking of the coating within the joint line if the concrete substrate moves or be filled with the appropriate joint filler allowing for a longer lasting, waterproof floor coating system.
Swan Coatings strongly recommends and offers the installation of appropriate joint sealants, also knows as corking as part of our services as it will protect your floor from moisture creeping under the coating and lifting it of the substrate and also helps maintain and clean the seamless floor as no dirt can build up in the joint.
Swan Coatings further offers and recommends the installation of perimeter joints to provide a neat finish as well as protect your new seamless floor from moisture ingress, especially outdoors. It must be remembered that any polyurethane and silicon joints are always maintenance joints and may need to be reinstated over time, which is still far more cost effective that repairing the epoxy flooring.
Swan Coatings is using only renowned high quality European and Australian manufactured joint filler materials in a wide colour range, which we will show you during our obligation free consultation.
